Resolve, To Study the Condition of the Landlocked Salmon in Maine and Make Recommendations To Improve Their Health
Sec. 1. Study improvement of landlocked salmon population. Resolved: That the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife shall convene a stakeholder group to study the condition of the landlocked salmon in the waters of the State and make recommendations to improve their health. The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife shall invite the participation of representatives of the fishing industry and other interested stakeholders. The stakeholder group shall examine the management of the landlocked salmon and find ways to increase their weight and size. The stakeholder group shall develop recommendations to improve the population of landlocked salmon in the waters of this State; and be it further
Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That, no later than December 7, 2011, the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife shall report the results of its study along with any recommended legislation to the Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife may submit a bill related to the report to the Second Regular Session of the 125th Legislature.
