An Act To Establish the Wilderness Rescue Fund
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §10263 is enacted to read:
§ 10263. Wilderness Rescue Fund
The Wilderness Rescue Fund, referred to in this section as "the fund," is established in the department as a nonlapsing fund to be used by the commissioner to fund or assist in funding the establishment of first aid equipment stations in areas where first aid equipment may not be readily available for search and rescue operations performed by the department. The fund may not be used to fund personnel services costs or general costs associated with search and rescue operations. The commissioner may accept and deposit into the fund any monetary gifts, donations or other contributions from public or private sources and shall use that money for the purposes specified in this section.

This bill establishes the Wilderness Rescue Fund in the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for the purpose of establishing first aid equipment stations in areas where first aid equipment may not be readily available for search and rescue operations by the department.
