An Act To Allow Veterans Who Work for Employers with More than 50 Employees To Take Veterans Day Off with Full Pay
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 26 MRSA c. 7, sub-c. 11 is enacted to read:

VETERANS
§ 877. Veterans Day
1. Definitions. As used in this section, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following terms have the following meanings.
A. "Employee" means a person who performs a service for wages or other remuneration under a contract of hire, written or oral, expressed or implied.
B. "Employer" means a person who has 51 or more employees.
C. "Veteran" means a person who served in the United States Armed Forces and was not dishonorably discharged.
2. Day off for veterans. An employer shall provide Veterans Day, November 11th, as a day off with pay to an employee who is a veteran at the request of that employee.
