An Act To Extend the Dental Care Access Credit for Dentists Who Practice in Underserved Areas of the State
Emergency preamble. Whereas, acts and resolves of the Legislature do not become effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as emergencies; and
Whereas, it is necessary that this legislation take effect sooner than 90 days after legislative adjournment to permit the income tax credit for dentists who practice in underserved areas to be available immediately to provide maximum certification of eligible dentists; and
Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and require the following legislation as immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, therefore,
Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §5219-DD, sub-§3, as enacted by PL 2009, c. 141, §2, is amended to read:
Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, this legislation takes effect when approved.
SUMMARY
This bill extends the dental care access income tax credit by permitting the certification of an additional 5 dentists annually through 2015.
