An Act To Auction Off Moose Permits to Hunting Lodges
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §11154, sub-§14 is enacted to read:
14. Moose hunting permit auction; hunting lodges. Notwithstanding subsection 1, the commissioner shall auction off 250 moose hunting permits each year to owners of hunting lodges. The 250 moose hunting permits issued under this subsection are in addition to the number of moose hunting permits allotted each year under subsection 2.
For purposes of this subsection, "hunting lodge" means a lodging place, as defined in Title 22, section 2491, subsection 6, that provides food and lodging and employs a licensed Maine guide to take guests on moose hunts.

This bill directs the Commissioner of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to auction off 250 moose hunting permits each year to owners of hunting lodges. The 250 moose hunting permits to be auctioned off to outfitters are in addition to those moose hunting permits allotted under the regular lottery system.
