Amend the bill by striking out the title and substituting the following:
‘An Act To Allow the Use of Crossbows during the Expanded Archery Season on Deer’
Amend the bill by striking out everything after the enacting clause and before the summary and inserting the following:
‘Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §10953, sub-§1, as enacted by PL 2005, c. 419, §2 and affected by §12, is amended to read:
Sec. 2. Crossbow report. The Commissioner of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife shall report to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over inland fisheries and wildlife matters about the impact of allowing the use of crossbows during the expanded archery season on deer established under the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 12, section 11403 by January 15, 2013. ’

This amendment is the minority report and replaces the bill. It authorizes the use of crossbows during the expanded archery season on deer for 2 years. It also directs the Commissioner of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to report to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over inland fisheries and wildlife matters on the impact of allowing the use of crossbows during the expanded archery season on deer by January 15, 2013.
