Final adoption
and implementation of Chapter 881: Fees; Chemical Use in Children's Products
may result in increased fees to the Maine Environmental Protection Fund in
the Department of Environmental Protection to cover the cost of collecting
and managing information on priority chemicals in children's products and of
preparing an independent report on the availability of safer alternatives to
priority chemicals in children's products.
No fees would be increased until the Board of Environmental Protection
names a specific priority chemical and determines what information will be
required, which makes it unlikely any fees could be assessed before July 1,
2011. |
|
Any
additional costs to the Department of Environmental Protection associated
with evaluating the effect of Chapter 881 fees and reporting to the
Legislature regarding assessment of those fees can be absorbed within
existing budgeted resources. |
