Exempting the Town
of Hermon from the requirement to join other towns to form a regional school
unit with a student population exceeding 1,200 will not affect the total
state and local cost of K-12 public education or the State's share of that
cost. However, providing this
exemption will result in the redistribution of state subsidy in fiscal year
2010-11 with the Town of Herman receiving approximately $165,193 more in
state subsidy than it would have received had this legislation not been in
place and all other conforming school administrative units receiving less
state subsidy due to the Town of Herman not being subject to penalties
pursuant to the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 20-A, section 15696. |
