All
telecommunications entities already subject to an assessment under Maine
Revised Statutes Title 35-A, Section 116, Sub-Section 8 are subjected to an
additional one-time assessment on their intrastate gross operating revenues
sufficient to produce $100,000. The
bill includes an allocation of $100,000 to the Office of the Public Advocate
to be used for bankruptcy counsel and related costs for the FairPoint
Communications bankruptcy proceedings in the United States Bankruptcy Court,
Southern District of New York.
