and Notes |

|
|
This
bill includes ongoing General Fund appropriations of $1,029,180 per year
beginning in fiscal year 2009-10 to the PK-20 Curriculum, Instruction and
Assessment program within the Department of Education to restore funding for
the development of the assessments necessary to meet the requirements of the
federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 as well as to demonstrate
achievement of the State's content expectations in reading, mathematics and
other specific topics as a result of the rule change that would have allowed
the State to participate in the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP)
not being authorized. |
|
The Committee
Amendment to LD 353, the 2010-2011 Biennial Budget, includes deappropriations
of $1,029,180 per year beginning in fiscal year 2009-10 to reflect savings
that would have been anticipated to be achieved by the State adopting the New
England Comprehensive Assessment Program assessment expectations in reading
and mathematics so that it could have joined with the other states in NECAP
in a common interstate assessment agreement. |
