This legislation establishes a recall procedure for all elected officials. If more than one recall petition is submitted at the same time the Secretary of State could incur overtime and/or temporary staff costs. If a recall question is placed on the ballot during the June primary and it is for a statewide office, the Secretary of State could require up to $107,250 in funding for ballot costs. If this bill creates more special elections there may be more expenditures from the Maine Clean Election Fund. No estimate of those costs can be made at this time. |
