Delaying
the date that school administrative units must comply with the provisions of
Title 20-A, chapter 103-A until July 1, 2010 will not impact the total state
and local cost of funding K-12 public education or the State's share of that
cost. However, the delay will impact
the distribution of State subsidy among school administrative units through
fiscal year 2009-10 with those school administrative units who have not
complied receiving more State subsidy than they would have received had the
penalty provision been in effect and those school administrative units who
have complied receiving less. The
impact to individual school administrative units can not be determined at
this time. |
