Fiscal Detail and Notes
If approved by the voters, the reduction in the number of legislators will result in savings from legislative salaries and expenses as esitmated below:
2010-11 2011-12 2012-13 2013-14 2014-15
Legislative Salaries and Expenses ($1,642,479) ($1,414,064) ($1,759,776)
Apportionment Timing $485,000 ($485,000)
Total Estimated Cost (Savings) $485,000 $0 ($2,127,479) ($1,414,064) ($1,759,776)
The Legislature would require an additional appropriation in fiscal year 2010-11 to fund the costs of the apportionment of the legislative districts.  The normal timing of the apportionment costs is for them to be incurred in fiscal year 2012-13.
