This
bill includes Other Special Revenue Funds allocations of $100,000 in fiscal
year 2009-10 and $120,000 in fiscal year 2010-11 for the State Board of
Nursing, affiliated with the Department of Professional and Financial
Regulation, to contract with an agency to operate a nurse health program
beginning in September 2009. This estimate is based on the assumption that
approximately 25%, or 6,000, of the 24,000 active licensee's in Maine will
participate in the program annually at a cost of $23 per licensee. The actual cost of the program may be
higher or lower depending on actual experience. As of the date that this fiscal note was
prepared, the State Board of Nursing had an unexpended cash balance of
$447,241, which is sufficient to absorb the cost of this legislation without
increasing fees through at least the 2010-2011 biennium. |
