An Act To Ensure That Search and Rescue Dogs Are Afforded the Same Access to Public Accommodations as Service Animals
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §10105, sub-§4-A is enacted to read:
4-A. Search and rescue dogs. Department personnel have the right to be accompanied by a search and rescue dog, especially trained for that purpose, in any place of public accommodation without being required to pay an extra charge for the search and rescue dog. For purposes of this subsection, "place of public accommodation" has the same meaning as in Title 5, section 4553, subsection 8.
SUMMARY
This bill provides that Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife personnel have the right to be accompanied by a search and rescue dog in any place of public accommodation without charge.
