An Act To Improve the Dental Health of Children by Making Fluoride Treatments More Available

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 32 MRSA §3300-B  is enacted to read:

§ 3300-B.  Fluoride

A pediatrician or other person licensed to practice medicine under this chapter who treats children shall offer during every visit a fluoride treatment to a patient who is a minor. A pediatrician or other person licensed to practice medicine under this chapter may recommend a fluoride treatment without being licensed under chapter 16.

SUMMARY

This bill requires a pediatrician or a physician who treats children to offer a fluoride treatment to a patient who is a minor and allows a pediatrician or a physician to recommend a fluoride treatment without being a licensed dentist or dental hygienist.
