An Act To Provide Transparency Concerning Operating Expenses for Hospitals

Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §1723  is enacted to read:

§ 1723.  Hospital expenses

A hospital shall report to the department on an annual basis on a schedule and form determined by the department a detailed description of the hospital’s annual operating budget, including income sources, profit-generating facilities, salary ranges by position and advertising. The department shall report on an annual basis all information gathered under this section to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over health matters.
