‘Resolve, Directing the Maine Human Rights Commission To Report on Improvements’
Amend the bill by striking out everything after the title and before the summary and inserting the following:
‘Sec. 1. Maine Human Rights Commission. Resolved: That the Maine Human Rights Commission shall report to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over judiciary matters by February 1, 2011 concerning case processing revisions, planned case processing revisions and recommendations for legislative action, all to reduce the time for investigating complaints. The report must include the estimated costs of the revisions and the recommendations. The joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over judiciary matters may report out a bill to the First Regular Session of the 125th Legislature concerning recommendations contained in the report.’

This amendment replaces the bill with a resolve directing the Maine Human Rights Commission to report on case processing revisions, both planned and implemented, as well as recommendations for legislative action to reduce the time to complete investigations. The estimated costs must be included in the report. The joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over judiciary matters may report out a bill to the First Regular Session of the 125th Legislature concerning the recommendations contained in the report.
