Resolve, Directing the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources To Study Potential Uses of a Potato Plant That Is Toxic to the Colorado Potato Beetle
Sec. 1. Colorado potato beetle. Resolved: That the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources shall conduct a study to examine the potential uses of a locally developed potato plant that is toxic to the Colorado potato beetle, a significant pest to potato crops. Before conducting the study, the department must obtain the appropriate approval, names or other legal permission from the developer; and be it further
Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources shall report its findings under section 1, including any recommendations, to the Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry by December 15, 2009.
SUMMARY
This resolve directs the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources to conduct a study to examine the potential uses of a locally developed potato plant that is toxic to the Colorado potato beetle, a significant pest to potato crops. Before conducting the study, the department must obtain the appropriate approval, names or other legal permission from the developer. The department shall report its findings and recommendations to the Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry by December 15, 2009.
