An Act To Ensure That Fair and Actual Funds from Maine Turnpike Authority Toll Receipts Be Given to the Department of Transportation Annually
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 5 MRSA §243, sub-§1, as amended by PL 1999, c. 208, §1, is further amended to read:
1. Audit. To audit all accounts and other financial records of State Government or any department or agency of State Government, including the Maine Turnpike Authority, the judiciary and the Executive Department of the Governor, except the Governor's Expense Account, and to report annually on this audit, and at such other times as the Legislature may require;
Sec. 2. 23 MRSA §1974, sub-§7 is enacted to read:
7. Annual audit. The authority shall submit to an annual audit by the State Auditor to determine compliance with this section.
A. Any costs associated with the audit must be borne by the authority.
B. Notwithstanding section 1982, the authority shall disclose information in accordance with Title 5, section 244-C.
