Resolve, To Direct the Emergency Medical Services' Board To Examine the Licensure Procedures for Emergency Medical Services Persons
Sec. 1. Reporting of the emergency medical services program. Resolved: That the Emergency Medical Services' Board, as established by the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, section 12004-A, subsection 15, shall examine the reporting of the emergency medical services program under Title 32, section 84 specifically concerning the information released to the public when a candidate for licensure is denied or accepted and whether the rights of confidentiality of the person are upheld; and be it further
Sec. 2. Ensure confidentiality. Resolved: That, when examining the procedure of releasing information to the public under section 1, the Emergency Medical Services' Board shall ascertain that the reporting method adheres strictly to the confidentiality provisions in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 1, section 402, subsection 3, paragraphs A and H concerning records that have been designated confidential by statute and medical records and reports. The board shall ensure that personal information designated confidential by statute is not released; and be it further
Sec. 3. Reporting. Resolved: That the Emergency Medical Services' Board shall report its examination under section 1 of the release of public information concerning licensure acceptance or refusal and the issue of confidentiality to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over business, research and economic development matters in the Second Regular Session of the 124th Legislature.

This resolve directs the Emergency Medical Services’ Board to examine the procedure by which the board releases information to the public when a licensure request is either accepted or denied to make certain that private and confidential information is not released pursuant to the freedom of access statutes.
