Amend the bill in section 1 in paragraph A-1 in the 4th line (page 1, line 7 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "5 years" and inserting the following: ' 5 years  the period designated by the physician, which may not exceed one year'

Amend the bill by inserting at the end before the summary the following:

SUMMARY

The bill allows a driver or passenger who for medical reasons cannot wear a seat belt to receive a placard indicating the driver or passenger is not required to wear a seat belt.

This amendment, which is the majority report of the Joint Standing Committee on Transportation, provides that a certificate from a physician, which documents a person’s medical condition and the opinion of the physician, is valid for the period designated by the physician and may not exceed one year.
