An Act To Provide Access to Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Auction Funds to Maine Indian Tribes
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 35-A MRSA §10008, sub-§6, ¶M is enacted to read:
M. Five percent of the trust fund receipts in each year must be allocated equally to the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township, Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point, Penobscot Nation, Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians and Aroostook Band of Micmacs, as defined in Title 30, chapters 601 and 603, for use for climate change mitigation projects.

This bill requires 5% of the annual receipts of the Energy and Carbon Savings Trust Fund to be allocated to the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township, Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point, Penobscot Nation, Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians and Aroostook Band of Micmacs.
