summary

Current law requires the United States Census Bureau to submit the data for apportionment to the states by April 1st every 10 years. The Constitution of Maine requires the reapportionment to be done within 120 days of convening of the Legislature, which puts the date for reapportionment sometime in March, prior to receiving the apportionment data.

This amendment changes the date for Maine to do the reapportionment to June 1st, after receipt of the reapportionment data.
