An Act To Require a Guide License for Certain Outdoor Activities

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §10001, sub-§28,  as enacted by PL 2003, c. 414, Pt. A, §2 and affected by c. 614, §9, is amended to read:

28. Guide.   "Guide" means a person who receives any form of remuneration for that person's services in accompanying or assisting a another person in the fields , or forests or on the waters or ice within the jurisdiction of the State while who is engaging in recreational activities, including, but not limited to, hunting, fishing, trapping, boating, snowmobiling or camping at a primitive camping area.

This bill clarifies the definition of "guide" to provide consistency in the laws governing a guide license for services provided for a fee to another for recreational activities taking place on lands or waters within the State's jurisdiction.
