This legislation
will require a General Fund appropriation to the Department of Environmental
Protection of $59,623 in fiscal year 2008-09 to provide funds for an
Environmental Specialist III position to implement a deposit and refund
system on compact fluorescent lamps.
The bill also establishes a refundable 25 cent deposit on compact
fluorescent lamps and will result in additional dedicated revenue to the
Refundable Light bulb Fund of $250,000 annually beginning in fiscal year
2009-10. Required allocations for
refunds on returned compact fluorescent lamps are projected to be $112,500 in
fiscal year 2009-10 and $135,000 in fiscal year 2010-11. |
