|
This legislation
creates a nonlapsing Community Corrections Incentive Fund to be administered
by the Department of Corrections.
Included in the bill is a General Fund appropriation to this newly
established fund of $1,500,000 in fiscal year 2007-08 and $2,000,000 annually
thereafter to be awarded to counties as competitive grants to improve the
efficiency and effectiveness of the state's correctional system. All costs associated with a newly created
State Sentencing and Corrections Practices Coordinating Council and
implementing modifications to the County Jail Prisoner Support and Community
Corrections Fund can be absorbed by the Department of Corrections utilizing
existing budgeted resources. |
|
The Judicial
Department will require a General Fund appropriation of $15,600 annually
beginning in fiscal year 2007-08 to pay active retired judges to cover for
trial court judges (16) for times when meetings of county criminal justice
planning committees are held. |
