This amendment
eliminates the General Fund cost of the bill of $212,450 in fiscal year
2010-11 by striking the provisions that established the Maine Home Contractor
Licensing Board as an affiliated board within the Department of Professional
and Financial Regulation. This
amendment requires the Department to study the issue of residential
contractor licensing and review the various building and energy codes in
existence throughout the State and report back to the joint standing
committee of the legislature having jurisdiction over business, research and
economic development matters with recommendations no later than January 4,
2010. |
|
As amended, the
additional costs to the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation
to conduct the required study can be absorbed within existing budgeted
resources. |
