Requiring school
attendance coordinators to serve as the liaison between the school and the
local law enforcement agency in matters pertaining to student absenteeism
represents a state mandate pursuant to the Constitution of Maine. The additional local costs can not be
determined at this time but are not expected to be significant. Pursuant to the Mandate Preamble, the
two-thirds vote of all members elected to each House exempts the State from
the constitutional requirement to fund 90% of the additional local costs. |
