The Maine
Institute for Public Safety Innovation, formerly entitled the Maine Community
Policing Institute, within the University of Maine System will require
ongoing Other Special Revenue Funds allocations of $210,000 in fiscal year
2007-08, $480,000 in fiscal year 2008-09 and $500,00 per year beginning in
fiscal year 2009-10 to provide training and technical assistance to police
and community members in the areas of community policing. This legislation reinstates a 2% surcharge
on every fine imposed by any court in this State to be deposited in the Maine
Institute for Public Safety Innovation Surcharge Fund to support the
activities of the Maine Institute for Public Safety Innovation. The amounts estimated above are based on
historical data. |
