An Act To Provide for the Construction of a Warehouse in Eastport

Emergency preamble. Whereas,  acts and resolves of the Legislature do not become effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as emergencies; and

Whereas,  the legislation must take effect immediately to lessen potential economic hardship on the port of Eastport; and

Whereas,  in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and require the following legislation as immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, therefore,

Sec. 1. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and allocations are made.

Initiative: Provides funds on a one-time basis for the construction of a warehouse at the port of Eastport.

Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, this legislation takes effect when approved.

SUMMARY

This bill provides a one-time General Fund appropriation of $1,200,000 in fiscal year 2007-08 to the Administration - Ports and Marine Transportation program within the Department of Transportation. This appropriation provides funds for the construction of a warehouse at the port of Eastport.
