Amend the resolve in section 1 in the last line (page 1, line 3 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "hour." and inserting the following: 'hour; and be it further'

Amend the resolve by inserting after section 1 the following:

Sec. 2. Review and report. Resolved: That the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Elder Services shall review the services provided in long-term care programs, reimbursement in long-term care programs and training, skills, pay and benefits for persons working in long-term care. All aspects of long-term care must be reviewed, from nursing facility through home-based care and from skilled nursing to homemaker and personal assistant services. By January 15, 2008 the department shall report to the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services the results of the review. The department shall include suggested legislation, rule changes and funding for any improvements to the current system that it recommends and shall price each initiative separately. The Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services is authorized to submit legislation regarding long-term care services to the Second Regular Session of the 123rd Legislature; and be it further

Sec. 3. Appropriations and allocations. Resolved: That the following appropriations and allocations are made.

Elder and Adult Services - Bureau of 0140

Initiative: Appropriates funds in fiscal year 2007-08 to increase the pay rate from $17 to $18.75 per hour for homemaker services providers who assist lower-income senior citizens. Funding for fiscal year 2008-09 is provided in Part A of Public Law 2007, chapter 240.
