An Act To Provide Equity in Funding for Women's Health Services
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §1599-B is enacted to read:
§ 1599-B. Equal access to abortion services
1. Policy. It is the public policy of the State that financial need not prevent any woman from exercising her right to safe, legal abortion as limited by this chapter. As part of the comprehensive package of health care services available to financially needy persons, the State shall provide financial assistance for eligible women to access abortion services.
2. Administration. The department shall adopt rules as necessary to administer the provision of financial assistance for abortion services, applying eligibility criteria as provided in chapter 855. Rules adopted pursuant to this subsection are routine technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.
Sec. 2. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and allocations are made.

Initiative: Provides funds to reimburse eligible women for abortion services.
