An Act To Protect Citizens' Privacy
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 10 MRSA §1272, as amended by PL 1995, c. 134, §1 and as repealed by c. 462, Pt. A, §21 and affected by §23, is further amended by adding at the end a new paragraph to read:
A state agency, as defined in Title 3, section 992, subsection 6, may not use a social security number for the sole purpose of identifying a person in order to provide services to that person or to take enforcement action against that person.
