An Act To Require the Maine State Housing Authority To Perform a Comprehensive Resource and Needs Assessment for Housing for Special Needs Populations That Are Not Homeless
Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §4753-A is enacted to read:
§ 4753-A. Special needs populations; needs assessment
The Maine State Housing Authority, in conjunction with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Economic and Community Development, shall conduct a comprehensive resource and needs assessment by region for housing for special needs populations that are not homeless. In order to evaluate the needs of different populations and the best policies to address those needs, the Maine State Housing Authority shall convene regional advisory groups and seek input from local stakeholders and advocates and develop local information gathering processes that are coordinated with local homelessness evaluations.
The Maine State Housing Authority shall report its findings to the Governor and Legislature biennially and shall make the report available to the public.
