Amend the resolve in section 1 in the first line (page 1, line 1 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "code and building rehabilitation code" and inserting the following: 'codes'
Amend the resolve in section 1 in the 4th line (page 1, line 4 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: "Development" the following: ', the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation'
Amend the resolve in section 2 by striking out all of subsection 9 (page 1, line 18 in L.D.) and inserting the following:
'9. Identification of overlap between model codes and codes and standards listed in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 10, section 9703;'
Amend the resolve in section 2 in subsection 12 in the 2nd line (page 1, line 23 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "; and" and inserting the following: ';'
Amend the resolve in section 2 by inserting after subsection 12 the following:
‘13. Identification of the advantages and disadvantages of maintaining the current state fire code, the NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code, 2003 Edition, and the advantages and disadvantages of changing to the International Fire Code;
14. Identification of measures that allow for preserving the artistic and architectural integrity of historic structures without unreasonable risk to life and safety; and’
Amend the resolve in section 2 by renumbering the subsections to read consecutively.
Amend the resolve in section 4 in the 3rd line from the end (page 2, line 1 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "development"

This amendment is the majority report of the committee. This amendment changes the resolve to include the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation in the group of agencies directed to develop a plan for implementing the Maine Model Building Code and the International Existing Building Code. It also includes a requirement that the agencies identify overlap between model codes and the codes and standards listed in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 10, section 9703 and the advantages and disadvantages of maintaining the current state fire code or changing to the International Fire Code. It also requires the agencies to identify measures that allow for preserving the artistic and architectural integrity of historic structures without unreasonable risk to life and safety.
