An Act To Deter Parental Alienation
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 19-A MRSA §4006, sub-§9 is enacted to read:
9. Parties with minor children. If a protection order is sought under this chapter on behalf of a minor child and the only evidence of abuse is from one parent of the minor child against the other parent of the minor child and the court determines relief should be granted, the order must be made without a finding of abuse against the minor child.

This bill requires that a protection order granting relief not be issued with a finding of abuse against the minor child when the protection order is sought on behalf of a minor child and the only evidence of abuse is from one parent of the minor child against the other parent of the minor child.
