Resolve, Directing the Department of Environmental Protection To Review the Maine Pollutant Discharge Elimination System/Waste Discharge License Program Fee System

Sec. 1. Review. Resolved: That the Department of Environmental Protection shall review the annual waste discharge license fee schedule established in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 38, section 353-B. In reviewing the fee schedule, the department shall strive to propose a fee schedule that supports the Maine Pollutant Discharge Elimination System/Waste Discharge License program in consideration of all potential funding sources including general funds and federal grants. In reviewing the fee schedule, the department may consult with interested parties, including, but not limited to, regulated entities or their representatives, environmental advocacy organizations and the federal Environmental Protection Agency; and be it further

Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That the Department of Environmental Protection shall report its findings to the Joint Standing Committee on Natural Resources by January 30, 2008. The Joint Standing Committee on Natural Resources is authorized to report out legislation in connection with the review to the Second Regular Session of the 123rd Legislature.
