Resolve, To Improve Driver Education Programs
Sec. 1. Secretary of State to review driver education programs. Resolved: That the Secretary of State shall undertake a comprehensive review of the Department of the Secretary of State's current driver education programs. The review must include the consideration of the education of drivers who have been found liable in accidents involving death or personal injury. The review must also include the consideration of the education of drivers whose licenses have been suspended by the Secretary of State or a court. The review must include input from the Technical Review Panel established in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 29-A, section 1354, subsection 6; and be it further
Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That the Secretary of State shall report findings and recommendations developed as a result of the review under section 1 to the Joint Standing Committee on Transportation by January 15, 2008; and be it further
Sec. 3. Legislation. Resolved: That the Joint Standing Committee on Transportation may submit a bill to the Second Regular Session of the 123rd Legislature to implement any recommendation presented in the report under section 2.
