Amend the bill by striking out the title and substituting the following:
‘An Act Regarding Discounts for Cable Television Service’
Amend the bill by striking out everything after the title and inserting the following:
Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §3010-A is enacted to read:
§ 3010-A. Discounted cable rates; pass-through
If a cable franchisee provides a discount on the price of cable television services to a facility that provides housing for older persons, the facility shall pass through a minimum of 95% of that discount to the residents of the facility. For the purposes of this section, "housing for older persons" has the same meaning as in Title 5, section 4581, subsection 2.’
SUMMARY
This amendment replaces the bill and is the minority report of the committee. The amendment requires a housing facility for older persons that receives a discount on cable television services to pass through 95% of the discount to residents of the facility.
