Amend the bill by striking out all of section 3 (page 1, lines 26 to 30 in L.D.) and inserting in its place the following:
‘Sec. 3. State-municipal revenue sharing program. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the State Controller shall transfer $5,000,000 by June 30, 2008 from the state-municipal revenue sharing program within the Office of the Treasurer of State to the unappropriated surplus of the General Fund.’
Amend the bill in section 4 in the last line (page 1, line 33 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "Maine Budget Stabilization Fund" and inserting in its place the following: 'state-municipal revenue sharing program within the Office of the Treasurer of State'
SUMMARY
This amendment transfers $5,000,000 from the state-municipal revenue sharing program within the Office of the Treasurer of State to the General Fund for the Low-income Home Energy Assistance Program and specifies that the funds may by used only for fuel purchases. Any funds remaining at the end of the fiscal year lapse to the state-municipal revenue sharing program within the Office of the Treasurer of State.
