Amend the amendment by inserting after Part MMMM the following:

PART NNNN

Sec. NNNN-1. 22 MRSA §3762, sub-§15,  as enacted by PL 1997, c. 695, §1, is repealed.

Sec. NNNN-2. 22 MRSA §3762, sub-§18  is enacted to read:

18.  Limitation on benefits.   Notwithstanding any provision of this chapter to the contrary, an adult may not receive benefits under this section for more than 60 months.’

Amend the amendment by relettering or renumbering any nonconsecutive Part letter or section number to read consecutively.

summary

This amendment limits to 5 years the length of time that an adult may receive benefits under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program or "TANF." A child of that adult would continue to receive TANF benefits as provided in current law.
