Amend the bill by inserting after section 2 the following:
‘Sec. 3. 26 MRSA §843, sub-§8 is enacted to read:
8. Sibling. "Sibling" means a sibling of an employee who is jointly responsible with the employee for each other's common welfare as evidenced by joint living arrangements and joint financial arrangements.’
SUMMARY
This amendment modifies the bill to allow an employee to take family medical leave for a sibling with a serious health condition or who dies while on active military duty only if the sibling is jointly responsible with the employee for each other's common welfare as evidenced by joint living arrangements and joint financial arrangements.
