Amend the bill by striking out all of section 5 (page 2, lines 1 to 11 in L.D.) and inserting the following:

‘Sec. 5. Transfer of funds. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the State Controller shall transfer $600,000 in fiscal year 2008-09 from the Bureau of Medical Services, Federal Block Grant Fund account to the Fund for a Healthy Maine no later than June 30, 2009 to fund the Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Health's comprehensive cancer screening, detection and prevention program.

Sec. 6. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and allocations are made.

Amend the bill by relettering or renumbering any nonconsecutive Part letter or section number to read consecutively.

SUMMARY

This amendment provides a one-time allocation of funds for the costs of the comprehensive cancer screening, detection and prevention program under Public Law 2007, chapter 341. This amendment also transfers federal funds identified by the Department of Audit to the Fund for a Healthy Maine account that originally incurred the costs.
