Resolve, To Address Drug Abuse and Addiction
Preamble. Whereas, an objective study of the State's ability to respond to its current drug abuse and addiction crisis and prepare for future addiction treatment needs is currently in order; and
Whereas, the subject of study should be undertaken by a neutral body and with the full involvement of public and private stakeholders; now, therefore, be it
Sec. 1. Preparation of study. Resolved: That the Department of Health and Human Services shall conduct an objective study of the State's ability to respond to its current drug abuse and addiction crisis and to prepare for future addiction treatment needs; and be it further
Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That, no later than December 15, 2007, the Commissioner of Health and Human Services shall submit a report of the findings and recommendations of the study conducted pursuant to section 1 to the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services and to the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs.
Summary
This bill directs the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct an objective study of the State's ability to respond to its current drug abuse and addiction crisis and to prepare for future addiction treatment needs.
