An Act To Prohibit Attorneys from Litigating Child Custody Cases in the Same District in Which They Serve as Guardians Ad Litem
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 19-A MRSA §1743 is enacted to read:
§ 1743. Limitation on representation
An attorney who is appointed guardian ad litem under Title 22, chapter 1071 or Title 18-A may not represent a client in a child custody matter under this chapter in a district court or probate court in which the attorney is appointed guardian ad litem.
