Resolve, To Encourage the Development of Water Power To Provide for Maine's Energy Needs
Sec. 1. Department of Environmental Protection to study a plan for a pilot program to use the hydropower potential of the State. Resolved: That the Department of Environmental Protection shall study a plan for a pilot program to use the hydropower potential of the State. As part of the study the department shall canvass all of the State’s inland water bodies to determine the potential of each for generating electricity, including the feasibility and cost; and be it further
Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That, no later than January 31, 2008, the Department of Environmental Protection shall submit its study under section 1, along with any recommended legislation related to the study, to the Joint Standing Committee on Natural Resources and the Joint Standing Committee on Utilities and Energy. The Joint Standing Committee on Natural Resources and the Joint Standing Committee on Utilities and Energy may jointly submit a bill related to the study to the Second Regular Session of the 123rd Legislature.
