Resolve, To Ensure Pet Safety during Emergencies
Sec. 1. Plan to rescue pets. Resolved: That the Maine Emergency Management Agency, in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture, shall develop a plan to rescue and provide shelter for service animals and pets during a state of emergency. No later than December 5, 2007, the Maine Emergency Management Agency shall submit a report that includes its plan, including suggested legislation, for presentation to the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety and the Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. The Maine Emergency Management Agency may submit legislation related to its plan for introduction to the Second Regular Session of the 123rd Legislature at the time of submission of its report.
