An Act To Require High-speed Internet Access for All Maine Residents
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 35-A MRSA §7102, sub-§4 is enacted to read:
4. High-speed Internet access. “High-speed Internet access” means a connection to the Internet that provides a data transmission speed of more than 200 kilobits per second from the Internet to a user’s computer or from the user’s computer to the Internet or in both directions.
Sec. 2. 35-A MRSA §7109 is enacted to read:
§ 7109. High-speed Internet access
A telephone utility shall provide high-speed Internet access to any Maine resident upon request, except that a telephone utility is not required to provide high-speed Internet access to a resident of an unorganized territory.
