An Act To Allow a Truck Driver To Haul a Trailer on a Highway If That Driver Has a Point-to-point Permit
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §501, sub-§10, ¶C, as enacted by PL 1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2 and affected by Pt. B, §5, is amended to read:
C. The registration permit may not authorize transporting property or passengers.
Sec. 2. 29-A MRSA §501, sub-§10-A is enacted to read:
10-A. Off-highway vehicles; point-to-point permit. Notwithstanding subsection 10, paragraph D, the Secretary of State may issue, upon application and the payment of a fee of $12, a temporary point-to-point permit for a vehicle registered under subsection 10 that allows the vehicle to be used to haul a trailer on a highway from point to point as specified in the permit.
